Evaluating Prep Passing Efficiency

Unlike the NFL or NCAA, there is no single mandated “National High School” formula forced upon every state athletic association. However, the overwhelming majority of prep scouting platforms, state associations, and statistical trackers utilize the Pro (NFL) formula structure for simplicity.

Because high school teams play with a wider hashmark spacing and varying levels of defensive secondary talent, the expectations within the 0 to 158.3 scale are drastically different.

A rating that is considered purely “Average” in the NFL (85.0) might actually be considered a highly exceptional, blue-chip recruiting number in a competitive high school division.

Is a 90 passer rating impressive for a high school junior?

Does High School rating include rushing yards?
